I am honored on taking up the additional charge of Director at the National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases (NITRD). NITRD's legacy of excellence in respiratory care, particularly in the field of tuberculosis, is truly inspiring. I am committed to ensuring a smooth continuation of the institute's vital work, especially in its core areas of teaching, training, and research. NITRD has a long and proud history of nurturing future generations of healthcare professionals through exceptional teaching programs. Our training initiatives equip students and medical personnel with the necessary skills and knowledge to become leaders in the field of respiratory health. Additionally, NITRD fosters a dynamic research environment that drives innovation and discovery in the fight against tuberculosis and other respiratory diseases. I am committed to ensuring a smooth continuation of the institute's vital work, especially in its core areas of teaching, training, and research.
NITRD’s dedication to excellence shines through in all its activities, from patient care to cutting-edge research and exceptional training programs. The Department of Microbiology in particular exemplifies this commitment with their expertise in diagnostics, research, and training, all critical to our fight against respiratory diseases.
I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to the Chairman of the Governing Body, the Chairperson of the Standing Finance Committee Members, the Joint Secretary, and the DDG (TB) for their unwavering support and guidance. Their leadership has been instrumental in shaping NITRD’s success story.
Looking ahead, I believe that continued innovation and collaboration are key to our success. We will embrace new technologies to improve patient outcomes, foster stronger research partnerships with national and international institutes, and expand our outreach programs to serve a wider community.
Together, with the unwavering commitment of our dedicated faculty, staff, students, collaborators, and the esteemed members of the Governing Body and its committees, we will continue to push the boundaries of respiratory health. Our ultimate goal remains the same: to be a leader in TB elimination and ensure a healthier future for all. I am confident that by working together, we can achieve a “TB Mukt Bharat” (TB-free India) and contribute significantly to global respiratory health efforts.
During this time, I will be working closely with the leadership team to ensure a smooth transition and continue building upon NITRD’s strong foundation.
