The Department of Pathology at the National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases provides comprehensive diagnostic services to the Institute. As an integral component of this premier, tertiary-level, teaching hospital, the department offers hematology, cytology, histopathology and immunohistochemistry services. The Department laboratories are automated and equipped with modern technology and contemporary equipment, and all sections of the Department are committed to providing accurate, timely, and reliable diagnostic services that guide clinical decision-making and patient care. We maintain rigorous quality control and quality assurance programs, participating in both internal and external quality assessment schemes (EQAS). Our laboratory follows standard operating procedures aligned with national guidelines and international best practices.

We actively and enthusiastically participate in research, training, academic and development activities.

The Department is headed by Dr Shalini Mullick and is staffed by competent doctors and experienced technical staff.
